Rolf's account, as translated, leaves no question that Adolf Mueller-Welt is the singular contact lens pioneer who began with only the historical accounts of academicians and the failed work of others who tried to perfect and manufacture contact lenses. Adolf saw it from its infancy as a possible science and persisted under the most deplorable physical and financial conditions to obtain the ultimate heights. He deserves more than has been accorded to him in the international circles of the history of contact lenses. Rolf Weinschenk came to Adolf Mueller-Welt as a very young man, in the months immediately following World War Two. There, he was trained in all aspects of contact lenses. He remained with the company until after my father's death. If anyone knows of a person exceeding the accomplishments of Adolf Wilhelm Mueller-Welt, please write to me with the history of that person. |
